Natalie A. Griffiths

Natalie A. Griffiths is a Research Staff Member in the Environmental Sciences Division, Climate Change Science Institute, and Urban Dynamics Institute at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Natalie received her BSc in Zoology and Physiology from the University of Toronto in 2005 and her PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Notre Dame in 2011. Her dissertation research focused on quantifying the impact of row-crop agriculture (i.e., corn and soybeans) on carbon cycling in streams in the midwestern US. At ORNL, she examines the effects of climate change on hydrology and biogeochemistry in peatland ecosystems (Spruce and Peatland Responses under Climatic and Environmental Change (SPRUCE) experiment), evaluates the environmental sustainability (water quality and quantity) of short-rotation pine as a bioenergy feedstock in the southeastern U.S., and studies biogeochemical and ecological processes in Walker Branch Watershed.
