Pranab Roy Chowdhury
Pranab is Graduate Research Assistant working in the Geographic Information Science and Technology Group since August 2014. He is also an Energy Science and Engineering Fellow and PhD candidate at University of Tennessee's Bredesen Center program. Pranab’ s research interests include urban energy dynamics, urban growth modelling, spatial statistics, application of machine learning in urban studies, geographic data driven methodologies in urban sustainability and mobility. His current research involves utilization of high resolution satellite data and computational analysis to understand broad local scale urban energy usage patterns over data sparse regions of the world. Pranab earned Master’s degree in Remote Sensing and GIS applications in Urban and Regional Planning from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, India and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Geography from University of Calcutta, India. He has worked as a Scientist in Government of India as well as in private sector prior to starting his graduate study.
