UDI Sustainable Mobility Theme Lead Named Director of the National Transportation Research Center

Robert Wagner, Theme Lead for Sustainable Mobility, has been named director of the National Transportation Research Center. His new post was effective July 1. Robert has been leader of the Fuels & Engines Research group and director of the Fuels, Engines & Emissions Research Center.

ORNL, UDI Researcher Support Women in Computing by Teaching Teens to Code

Researchers from the Women in Computing (WiC) group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) are engaging girls with science, technology, mathematics, and engineering (STEM) fields through an annual educational event called “Introduce Your Daughter to Code.” Hosted by the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF), the event gives daughters of staff members at ORNL a chance to engage in fun programming activities and code on the Cray XK7 Titan supercomputer. This year, 25 girls ages 10 to 18 participated in the labwide event on June 16.

New Named IEEE Senior Member - Joshua New

Joshua New of Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL’s) Building Technologies Research & Integration Center (BTRIC) and Urban Dynamics Institute (UDI) has been newly elevated to the grade of senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), an honor bestowed on less than 8% of IEEE’s more than 429,000 members. Senior members must have a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience and demonstrate significant performance in IEEE fields for at least 5 years.
